The SAS Championship
The SAS Championship presented by Bloomberg Businessweek is an official PGA TOUR Champions Tour annual event featuring the top golfers in the world over the age of 50 years old. Hosted at Prestonwood Country Club, the nationally televised event hosts the legends of golf as they compete for a $2.1 million purse. Proceeds from the event benefit area organizations dedicated to youth education including the YMCA of the Triangle through the Triangle Community Foundation. Stay tuned for the event's 2012 dates.

Past champion Russ Cochran started the 2010 SAS Championship with an impressive 8-under first round score and cruised to a two-stroke victory defeating 2009 champion Tom Pernice, Jr.

2009 Champion
Tom Pernice, Jr.
During his Champions Tour debut, Tom Pernice, Jr. made a 36-foot birdie on the final hole of the 2009 SAS Championship to edge Nicke Price and David Frost.
2008 Champion
Eduardo Romero
Eduardo Romero won his third Champions Tour victory of 2008 by shooting 60s in all three rounds and topping Tom Kite by three strokes.
2007 Champion
Mark Wiebe
Exemption Mark Wiebe won in his Champions Tour debut with a tournament record 18-under par 198.
2006 Champion
Tom Jenkins
Second round leader Tom Jenkins was victorious at the 2006 SAS Championship after the final round was cancelled due to rain accumulation.
2005 Champion
Hale Irwin
Hale Irwin's come back victory over Bob Gilder and Tom Jenkins was the result of three birdies and an eagle on the final nine holes of the 2005 SAS Championship.
2004 Champion
Craig Stadler
Craig Stadler lead the 2004 SAS Championship wire-to-wire and defeating second place Tom Jenkins by six strokes due to final round tournament record 17-under par.
2003 Champion
D.A. Weibring
Rookie D.A. Weibring overcame the flu and carded his first Champions Tour victory after shooting eagle-birdie on the final two holes to edge Tom Kite's course record 61.
2001 & 2002 Champion
Bruce Lietzke
Bruce Lietzke remains the only winner in SAS Championship history with consecutive wins. SAS President & CEO Jim Goodnight joked that he was going to put him on a retainer.
